"NHRC has identified 2947 cases of influenza A/pH1N1 virus among active-duty (1880), DoD dependent (594) and US-Mexico border and foreign civilian (473) populations.
Our CDC-BIDS collaborative border FRI surveillance program has resumed at 5 US-Mexico border clinics in San Ysidro, Calexico, Brawley, Tijuana, and Mexicali. The first identified case of influenza A/pH1N1 in humans was collected in this surveillance program.
Type 4 adenovirus remains the predominant cause of FRI among recruits at most training centers.
Type 14 adenovirus is now predominant at CGTC Cape May and is present with lower prevalence at NRTC Great Lakes and MCRD San Diego.
Type 7 adenovirus is being seen at Ft. Benning.
Pneumonia rates at 3 of 4 sites under surveillance (Ft. Jackson, Ft. Leonard Wood, and MCRD San Diego) are consistent with levels before pH1N1 circulation. NRTC Great Lakes pneumonia rates are elevated, but overall number of cases is low.
