Nassau Announces 5th Swine Flu Death, Free Clinics

A child became the fifth Nassau resident to be claimed by the swine flu, health officials announced Wednesday.

Nassau County Department of Health did not release any identifying information about the child. Since the H1N1 influenza was first identified this spring, five residents with the virus have been reported. medical-symbol_medium1-300x2251

Officials noted that there are free upcoming swine flu shot clinics for Nassau residents who are deemed priority groups, such as pregnant women, caretakers of those younger than 6 months old, healthcare workers, people between 6-months old and 24-years old and people between the ages of 25 and 64 who have health conditions that leave them at higher risk of contracting the flu.

Sunday, Nov. 29, North Shore-LIJ at Town of North Hempstead?s Clinton Martin Park, 1650 Marcus Ave., New Hyde Park, 9 a.m. ? 1 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 1, Nassau University Medical Center?s A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility?s Auditorium, 875 Jerusalem Ave., Uniondale, 6 p.m. ? 10 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 2, North Shore-LIJ at Town of Hempstead?s Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville, 4 p.m. ? 8 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 3, Nassau University Medical Center?s Auditorium, 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, 6 ? 10 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 6, North Shore-LIJ at Town of North Hempstead?s Clinton Martin Park, 1650 Marcus Ave., New Hyde Park, 9 a.m. ? 1 p.m.
