PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Public health officials in Rhode Island say they have confirmed an outbreak of swine flu cases at two elementary schools.

Department of Health spokeswoman Carol Hall-Walker the outbreak at the Greystone Elementary in North Providence and Bishop McVinney Elementary School in Providence was confirmed Saturday.

That raises the number of confirmed swine flu cases to 29 since the outbreak began in April.

The outbreak at the two schools has sickened one teacher and caused an unusual number of students to call in sick with flu-like symptoms.

The swine flu virus was detected after testing a representative sample of students.

Director of Health David Gifford says the cases appear to be mild and his department does not recommend closing the schools.
