Even though Montana has seen near-record cases of whopping cough this year, officials at the Department of Public Health and Human Services say the state-wide epidemic has been tapering off in recent weeks.

Officials report the number of new cases reported each week has dropped from as many as 20 to as few as 4 because more people are getting vaccinated. About 570 cases have been reported so far this year, with the average number per year being 100...
