Puttur: Monkey Fever Spreads Wings to Taluk - Seven Persons Affected

Puttur, Mar 6: Monkey fever, which has already caused enough havoc in the neighbouring Sullia taluk, is fast spreading into other areas too. While a couple of persons have died owing to monkey fever, a lot more have been affected by same. However, it had been exclusive only to Sullia taluk limits so far.
But now it has spread wings even to Bilinele, Kombar and other areas of the taluk. Already 7 persons have been found affected by monkey fever in the area as per the reports from Shirady Primary Health Centre (PHC).
Speaking to reporters, taluk health officer Dr Sandeep said that one more case has been detected at Tinglady also, which means that a total of 7 persons have been affected by monkey fever in the entire taluk.
More and more cases are being reported from the area day-by-day. Already more than 1,700 persons have been vaccinated in Kombar and Bilinele villages.
The reports from the remote villages of the taluk also said that many monkeys have been found dead in the nearby woods. Moreover, lot more carcass of monkeys too have been found in decomposed state in the woods situated on Sullia-Puttur border.
Right now Meenakshi (35), Rak**** (14), Shantappa Gowda (40) and Devaki (45) of Kombar and Gangamma (45) and Smitha (18) of Bilinele have been found to be suffering from monkey fever.
