1 whooping cough case reported in Steele County as statewide number topples 1,000

OWATONNA ? For the first time in four years, the number of whooping cough cases reported in Minnesota has surpassed 1,000.

That?s according to Minnesota Department of Health data released Friday reporting 1,055 confirmed, probable or suspect cases of whooping cough ? also known as pertussis ? throughout the state.

The last time the number of cases toppled that threshold was in 2012 when 4,639 were reported in Minnesota...
