Chickenpox: second case confirmed

If the Hillsdale College Health and Wellness Center confirms a third case of chickenpox, campus could become nearly a ghost town.

Two cases of chickenpox have been confirmed on campus, one on Sept. 13 and the other before classes began.

According to Michigan state law, when a school reports more than two cases of chickenpox in close proximity to one another, students who can not prove immunity will be kept off campus until 21 days after the last case...

Yale Public Schools is working with the St. Clair County Health Department to deal with a chicken pox issue in the district.

There have been 13 confirmed cases of chicken pox at Yale Junior High School, said Superintendent Ken Nicholl.

The health department has directed the district to exclude students who have not been vaccinated or do not have proof from a doctor that they have had the chicken pox, he said...

The Lenawee County Health Department is telling parents of Onsted Community Schools students who have not been immunized against chickenpox that their children will be "excluded" from school for up to three weeks after several students with the illness were reported this week in the district...
