Study of influenza deaths unexplained
Mexican scientists have announced that within six months will come to taking samples of a segment of the Mexican population, in order to measure the antibodies to determine how extensive the epidemic was as there may be a significant number of asymptomatic cases.

City-M?xico. The Mexican scientists identified within the population died of human influenza A/H1N1 virus, is a large group of young and healthy with no history of risk factors, which were particularly affected with this strain and whose medical records have become a big question unanswered.
In addition, this committee announced that within six months will come to taking samples of a broad segment of the Mexican population, in order to measure the antibodies to determine how extensive the epidemic A/H1N1 was because there may be a significant number of asymptomatic cases.
Samuel Ponce de Leon, a member of the scientific committee responsible for analyzing the behavior of the virus in New Mexico, explained that according to clinical study of 24 patients, of whom 17 died and it was possible to detect cases of people who, unlike the Most developed quickly, serious and lethal infection to the degree that required immediate respiratory support.
"This group of patients had a different evolution for the vast majority of people have been infected and which comprise the bulk of the epidemic," she said after mentioning the case of women from Oaxaca, Mar?a Adela Guti?rrez Cruz, 39 years , who presented symptoms on April 4 and died 9 days later.
"We determined (in these 24 cases detected) if there was some combination of virus infection by A/H1N1, plus any other of the influenza virus or another virus that can be purchased in the environment.
"We are also considering a variant of the same family of the new virus or if we have a sum of factors, including not yet recognize as genetic situations ... like it is the same virus but has a different behavior in each agency," said director of BIRMEX.
Ponce de Leon said that the case histories of the 17 deaths are peculiarly interesting because they are outside the parameters of medical knowledge of seasonal influenza, which annually cause about 10 deaths in the United States and up to 30 thousand deaths, children and the elderly being the most vulnerable.
In the case of human influenza A/H1N1, explained that this peculiar group of 17 identified cases is beyond the general profile of the deceased which, by 60 per cent suffered from any chronic disease prior obesity, diabetes , hypertension, cardiovascular disease, which makes them more vulnerable to such attacks infectious.
The scientific committee also presented some results on the sequencing of the virus which states that it came from United States, particularly its antecedent refers to California.
"What United States has about 4 thousand 298 cases confirmed with the virus and that we only 2 thousand 895, reflects only that the infection has spread rapidly. EU also has an ability to detect broader than in Mexico. "
Another outcome of the scientific committee was presented Antonio Lazcano Araujo, Department of Biology, Faculty of UNAM, who threw overboard the argument that the H1N1 virus is new because it was detected from November 2008 , and since then I knew it was highly mutant.
Manuel Ruiz de Chavez, president of the National Academy of Medicine, said that the H1N1 influenza is totally linked to poverty and marginalization, even though the effect is observed more in rural areas. E
In Mexico City, delegations and Gustavo A. ?lvaro Obreg?n Madero recorded the highest number of cases of influenza type A.
At the meeting, the experts also cautioned that the cause Oseltamivir resistance and that is not quite optimal for the population as it can generate other problems.
