MEXICO CITY, Mexico (CNN) -- A strong quake measuring 6.0 in magnitude struck southwestern Mexico on Monday, and it was felt about 175 miles away in Mexico City, according to a CNN producer and the U.S. Geological Survey.

USGS measured the quake's epicenter in the state of Guerrero about 43 miles northeast of Acapulco. The preliminary magnitude is 6.0, but that could change.

Earthquake in Veracruz

The earthquake of 6 degrees on the Richter scale was felt on the east coast of that country. So far, no reported casualties or damage

The earthquake occurred in the state of Veracruz, located in eastern Mexico, the site reported the Information Center of China Internet.

Authorities from the National Seismological Service (SSN) reported that the tremor occurred at 4:01 (9:01 GMT) with epicenter at 13 kilometers west of the port of Coatzacoalcos.

The earthquake with magnitude 6.0 occurred near Chilpancingo, about 210 kilometers (130 miles) southwest of Mexico City and 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Acapulco, according to the seismological center of United States (USGS stands for in English).

The earthquake was located at coordinates 18.7 degrees north latitude and 94.55 degrees west longitude less.

So far, no reports of injuries or damage to the structures of buildings, staff informed of the Civil Protection of the state of Veracruz.

"There was nothing relevant, there was no evacuation. There were no serious problems," said Delfina Manzanares, employee of a hotel in Acapulco, in dialogue with the news network CNN.
