Manitoba Influenza Surveillance Report

Influenza activity in Manitoba remains very low.

No further weekly reports will be produced this season unless a significant change in influenza activity is identified. A final 2011/2012 end of season report will be produced over the summer and posted here: http://www.gov.mb.ca/health/publichealth/surveillance/reports.html#influenza.

Summary:

? The influenza-like-illness rate was 1.8% with 45% of sentinel physician sites reporting.
? There were no cases of influenza A or B reported.
? Surveillance for hospitalizations and deaths associated with a lab-confirmed report of influenza has ended for this season.
? There were no lab-confirmed outbreaks of influenza reported this week.

Since the last flu report, there have been:
? 0 new case of influenza A reported;
? 0 new case of influenza B reported.

Since the beginning of the season, there have been:
? 68 cases of influenza A reported;
? 216 cases of influenza B reported.

Surveillance for clinically severe cases has ended for the current flu season.
Since the beginning of the season, there have been:

? 68 hospitalizations, of which
? 10 resulted in an ICU admission; and
? 4 deaths.1
