Imphal, August 20 2010: Tuberculosis (TB) has killed 1153 in Manipur while during the last seven year, from 2002 to 2009, and during the same period 3,74,200 were found suffering from the disease.

Presenting the scenario of TB in the state at an interaction programme on "Innovation of Civil Society in Tuberculosis Care and Control in Manipur, retired TB officer of the Manipur TB Control Society, Dr Manihar said that in Manipur, a total of 1153 people was claimed by the disease while 3,74,200 infected by the disease were treated under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP).

Out of the total infected people 23115 were male and the rest 14,275 were female.

Three cases of Multidrug-Resistant (MDR) were also detected in the hill districts of the state while 100 spectrum samples are waiting for diagnosis...
