A 95-year-old man is the first Lancaster County resident to die from the flu this season, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported last week.

He is one of 11 people statewide to perish from the virus, as of Jan. 8.

Health Department spokeswoman Holli Senior said in an e-mail that the others are from Montgomery, Lehigh, Erie and Westmoreland counties. Six victims were at least age 65, with three in their 90s and one centenarian; the youngest was a 2-year-old.
