More than 2,000 reported to have suffered Dengue Fever and Chikungunya: Disease Control Unit | DATE: 2009-04-20 | PRINT | SHARE
Center for Community Health and Disease Control Unit has revealed that more than 2,000 people have sought medical help from hospitals after suffering from Chikungunya and Dengue Fever this year alone.
According to the Unit the number of people reported to have suffered both diseases are higher than that of last year. This year 231 people were reported for Dengue Fever while 574 people were reported for Chikungunya. Last year three people had died after suffering from Dengue Fever.
Disease Control Unit said that the number of people suffering from mosquito related diseases such as Dengue Fever and Chikungunya are always notably high at the end and middle of every year. The Unit also added that since these were rainy days such diseases are widespread in Male? and across the country.
