$5,000 reward. Maybe it should be higher if someone is trying to set a nuclear sub on fire (again). Also they are investigating a fire alarm that went off in the same area.

They say those events are unrelated to the May fire on board the sub itself that caused an estimated $400 million in damages. (Supposedly a vacuum cleaner that sucked up some 'hot material' caused that one.)

I noticed that the suspect is a painter. Marine paints and other compounds used in the trade can be very toxic and working with them in closed quarters on a sub adds another challenge to health. I wonder if tragedies like this one could be avoided if neurological health of workers like this were monitored more closely?

KITTERY, Maine ? A civilian painter accused of lighting a fire on a nuclear submarine to ?get out of work? was taking three prescription drugs and an antihistamine at the time, he told investigators.

?He explained that he was taking Celexa for anxiety and depression, Klonopin for anxiety, Ambien for sleep and Xertec (sic) for allergies,? according to a criminal complaint filed against the painter, Casey Fury, of Portsmouth...
