Macedonia confirms new cases of H1N1 flu

Macedonian health authorities said 11 newly confirmed cases of A/H1N1 influenza were reported in the past 24 hours.

Eight patients have been admitted to Clinic Center in the past 24 hours, and three other patients have been admitted to Military Hospital.

Health Ministry said the newly-hospitalized patients are undergoing treatment and are doing well.

A 25-year-old patient is in critical condition after developing pneumonia and he was placed on mechanical ventilation.
Also in critical condition but with stable vital parameters is the 44-year-old woman who was admitted to hospital three days ago.


A total of 94 patients are undergoing treatment at Skopje's Clinic Center, while 23 patients are undergoing treatment at the clinic for infective diseases.A total of 45 children - at age 6 months to 5 years - with flu-like symptoms were admitted to hospital in the past few days. They are doing well, except for one child who developed viral pneumonia.
