The city?s Health Bureau has announced that a 15-year old female student was diagnosed with Scrub Typhus, also known as Tsutsugamushi disease

Macau (MNA) ? The city?s Health Bureau (SS) has announced that a 15-year old female student has been diagnosed with Scrub Typhus, also known as Tsutsugamushi disease.

According to the SS on Tuesday late evening, after having manifested several symptoms such as cervical pain, fever, and severe headache on September 2, and body rash on September 11, when a scarring showed at the extremity of her left vertebra, the patient sought help at Kiang Wu Hospital, with subsequent laboratory analysis showing a positive reaction of Scrub Typhus.

While the patient is recovering from medical treatment, she claimed to not having travelled outside the city during the incubation period, making this a local case of infection...
