[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]?Almost every other patient admitted in the hospital is suffering from viral fever; I diagnose 10-12 patients every day suffering from it,? Gill says. Adds Dr (Col) Pawan Kumar Dhandona, a physician and pulmonologist at the Christian Medical College and Hospital: ?I am a specialist and get serious cases referred. Even so, there are around five to seven cases daily.?[/FONT]

Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Superintendent at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), says other kind of fevers are also on the rise. ?There are different kinds of fevers with which city people are being diagnosed like malaria - a few cases of typhoid and Hepatitis E have been diagnosed at our hospital,? he adds.[/FONT]

Three patients admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) have been confirmed to have dengue, bringing the total number of cases to 15. The serology tests of Phagwara resident Deepak Sharma, 20, Civil Lines resident Rajiv Kumar, 31, and Surjit Kaur, 60, from Bharowal Khurad were found to be positive yesterday.[/FONT]

Six new dengue patients were admitted in the city hospital today, taking the total number of affected cases to 421.

Though no official press release was despatched by the health authorities regarding the number of cases, the doctors confirmed the number of cases in the hospital.[/FONT]

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]?There are three new patients suffering from fever whose serology confirmed dengue today while there are three suspected patients as well??, said Dr Gautam Aggarwal, consultant internal medicine at Satguru Partap (SPS) Apollo Hospital. ??Also there are 11 new patients admitted whose serology tests are still awaited,? he added.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]At Mohandai Cancer Hospital, there are three dengue patients were admitted while 11 who are presently admitted in the hospital are suspected of having dengue, said Dr Samir Dogra, MS of the hospitals.

"As per the update on Saturday, there are around 16 positive cases of dengue admitted in the hospitals the total rising to 244," said Dr John Abraham, Medical Superintendent of Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Ludhiana is a major yarn manufacturing location in India. It's in Punjab, where they grow cotton. I'll guess that it's hot and humid for a large part of the year; there are huge areas in the fields for water to stand.

Just a guess here, but there are 4 strains of dengue, two of them are more virulent, specially one, and it seems the one going around this time.
