  • The cleaning and disinfection of the only infected premises NAI-2010-MB-001 was completed on 1 February 2011 and the quarantine was released on 22 February 2011.
  • In the three-month period following the cleaning and disinfection, adequate Notifiable Avian Influenza surveillance has been conducted in Manitoba and other regions of Canada as part of the ongoing Canadian Notifiable Avian Influenza Surveillance System (CanNAISS).
  • All results were negative during that three-month period.
  • Therefore, in compliance of Article 10.4.3.2 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Canada declares that the province of Manitoba has regained its NAI free status as of 1 May 2011.
  • All Canada is free of NAI.
  • The CanNAISS is an ongoing surveillance system and surveillance will continue.
