Local hospitals ready to handle any Ebola cases

NEW ORLEANS -- As medical professionals in Dallas work to help a critically ill patient who tested positive for Ebola, here in the metro area, local hospitals are making sure they've got plans in place to handle the infectious virus.

"This is us at the Saints game. We had great seats!" Nikki Rodrigue said as she looked at recent pictures of her trip to Dallas to watch her favorite team take on the Cowboys.

Like hundreds of other Who Dats, Rodrigue flew to Dallas this past weekend to cheer on the Saints.

Tuesday's breaking news that a patient in Texas tested positive for Ebola gave her pause.

"The CDC has been preparing everyone in health care for the possibility, by providing infection control measures to implement if you encounter patients with suspected Ebola," said Dr. Fred Lopez, an infectious diseases specialist at LSU Health Sciences Center.
