Louisiana hospitals waiting on CDC guidance for Ebola care plan

The Department of Health and Hospitals is still waiting for guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on where potential Louisiana Ebola patients will be treated.
State health officials recently testified before a legislative committee they were unsure if a specific Louisiana hospital would be designated the primary hospital for treating any Louisiana Ebola patients. DHH spokesperson Olivia Watkins said the current plan is to transport them to a specialty hospital elsewhere in the country that has a bio-containment unit.
However, it's unclear how that transfer will take place. Watkins said DHH sent a letter to the CDC on Oct. 17 requesting details on how Ebola patients would be transferred to one of those hospitals, but the department has not received a response.
Louisiana has not yet had an Ebola case, but four people are being monitored for the virus. Three of those people are in the New Orleans area while the fourth is in Baton Rouge. All are described as "low risk."
