WASHINGTON PARISH, La. - A gas line explosion occurred in Washington Parish Tuesday morning, according to Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal.

Officials are on the scene on Lee Road in the town of Enon, which is north of Isabel. The roads around the explosion are shut down, Seal said.

Florida Gas owns the line, according to the sheriff.

FRANLINTON, La. (AP) - A pre-dawn gas line explosion has shaken residents out of their beds in a rural area of Washington Parish near the community of Enon.

Sheriff Randy Seal says there were no injuries from the blowout, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Louisiana State Police indicate the suspected cause of the explosion is a rupture in a 30 inch natural gas line.

Red cross volunteers and an emergency response vehicle are headed to the scene.
