Published: Friday, December 11, 2009 12:30 PM CST
The Iowa Department of Public Health reported on Thursday the first H1N1 related death in Lee County.

According to Polly Carver-Kim of the IDPH, an adult in Lee County with risk factors that increased the chance of complications from the virus has died. The adult was one of three reported deaths linked to the virus on Thursday. The other was a child from eastern Iowa and an adult from Hamilton County also died Thursday.

The state has had 36 confirmed deaths related to the H1N1 virus and about 700 H1N1-related hospitalizations.

The Iowa Department of Public Health has been guarded on releasing names and information on those who have died due to this virus. Carver-Kim has cited privacy laws.
