Several cases of mumps confirmed at LSU among students living off-campus

Several LSU students have been diagnosed with mumps, an LSU spokeperson confirmed with WBRZ in Baton Rouge.

That spokesperson said that all of those students live off campus and the situation is not expected to impact the campus at this time.

The Reveille, LSU's newspaper, said that the Division of Strategic Communications notified students and faculty of the cases in an email on Tuesday...

Free vaccines will be available to Louisiana State University students next week as the school works to contain an outbreak of mumps.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU said Monday (Feb. 10) the number of students infected with mumps has risen to 11.

Five cases were initially reported Feb. 4.

All but one of the 11 cases involves students who live off campus, LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard said Monday...

It is recommended that any LSU student/faculty/staff who has not received two doses of MMR get the vaccine as soon as possible. In addition, if you have come into direct contact with someone currently diagnosed with mumps, it is recommended that you receive a third MMR vaccine.

The LSU Student Health Center will be providing the MMR vaccine to students free of charge at the Student Health Center.
