Kochi: A patient who was being treated at the Isolation Ward at Kalamassery in Ernakulam died of suspected coronavirus infection.

The deceased is Jainesh, a young man from Malaysia. The funeral was held at 12 o'clock last night.

The young man arrived in Malaysia from Malaysia yesterday. After landing at Nedumbassery airport, he was shifted to a medical college.


He was diagnosed with acute viral pneumonia in the lungs and was taken to a ventilator by doctors. The young man had been suffering from fever and shortness of breath for the past five days.

The young man also had other ailments like diabetes. The first sample test conducted at Alappuzha Virology Institute confirmed that he was not infected with coronaviruses. The results of the second sample have not yet been released.

Doctors have said it will only be available this afternoon. Doctors conclude that viral pneumonia is the cause of death.
