Dengue fever reported in Mombasa

ABOUT 100 cases of dengue fever have been reported in Mombasa county since January, county director of health Dr Khadija Shikelly has said. Speaking to the Star in Mombasa yesterday, Shikelly said the 100 have been reported through rapid cases results and clinical diagnosis in private institutions. She said the 100 cases have been taken to the Centre for Disease Control in Nairobi for detailed analysis and seven cases are positive.

She said there is not record of any death from the fever his year. Last year, three people died of the fever. Shikelly said hemorrhagic dengue fever is the severe type, which causes immediate death.
