Farm minister Kano hospitalized with suspected norovirus infection
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japanese farm minister Michihiko Kano was admitted to hospital Sunday night with acute stomach inflammation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said Monday.
He is displaying symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, and is suspected of having contracted the norovirus, according to the ministry.
Kano was absent from Monday's session of the Budget Committee of the House of Councillors as well as the government-sponsored memorial service Sunday for the March 11 earthquake and tsunami victims.
