Construction begins for advanced gravitational wave telescope on Gifu Pref. mountain

HIDA, Gifu -- A ceremony was held here on Jan. 20 for the start of construction on a pioneering underground telescope designed in hopes of finding faint gravitational waves whose existence was predicted by Albert Einstein but remains unobserved.
