KYOTO -- The Kyoto Prefectural Government is calling for caution against ixodid ticks after a woman in the prefecture recently was struck by a potentially fatal tick-borne infection.
The prefectural government announced that a woman in her 60s who lives in the Tango region of the prefecture has contracted "a severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS)," an infectious disease transmitted by ixodid ticks.
