Hendel stated that the national government must step in and take measures to control the disease and compensate farmers. Hendel warned that if the current situation continues, it could lead to disaster.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Isn't this a catch 22.

If the government starts going in a helping out the poultry farmers they will be obligated to go in and help out all the farmers, then everyone else that is afflicted by Bird Flu?

I suspect that Isreal does not have many pig farms (I could be wrong on this but that would be quite an eye opener).

My question is this.

At what point does the government start/stop bailing out industries that are "on the verge of collapsing". It seems a dangerous road to start down. But once you start it seems like you cannot stop.
