No Bird Flu Detected
TEHRAN, Dec. 24--No case of bird flu has been detected in Iran yet, the head of State Veterinary Organization, Hossein Hassani, said on Sunday.
Hassani told IRNA that Iran is among states that are ?clean of the bird flu virus (H5N1)?.
Asked about the reason behind the culling of chicken in some of the poultry farms around the country, the official said the Veterinary Organization decided to immediately destroy any suspicious case since the avian flu was reported in some of the neighboring countries.
He added that culling of suspicious cases does not necessarily mean that bird flu was detected in the country.
Hassani further said there was no reason to feel concerned about the outbreak of the disease in Iran.
