Iran coronavirus update: Over 74,200 deaths says opposition party, highest official daily death toll & ICU patients

Iran, July 21, 2020—Over 74,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 347 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, July 21. The official death count declared by the regime stands at 14,634 around a fifth of the actual figure.

The death toll in various provinces include: 18,450 in Tehran, 5,460 in Razavi Khorasan, 3,288 in Mazandaran, 2,880 in Lorestan, 2,350 in Alborz, 1,945 in Hamedan, 1,838 in Fars, 1,045 in Kerman, 855 in Hormozgan, 695 in Zanjan, 595 in Qazvin, 570 in Ilam, and 485 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The spokesperson of the regime’s Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 229 people had died of the novel coronavirus during the past 24-hour period and 3,589 patients are in ICU. Both statistics are unprecedented and the highest official numbers since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
