SAN PEDRO SULA .- A teenager could be the first victim of the influenza AH1N1 in the northern region, since after presenting some symptoms characteristic of the disease, died last weekend in the hospital "Catarino Rivas in San Pedro Sula.
In San Pedro Sula's public hospital were reported about 25 patients with suspected cases of influenza AH1N1.
However, the authorities discussed the case because the patient was admitted with a clinical picture difficult, so that samples were collected to establish if the girl died from this plague, dengue hemorrhagic fever, or lupus.
Pineda Luisamaria epidemiologist, said the patient had a short time at the hospital in serious condition, and respiratory problems, so that makes one suspect, who had the flu AH1N1.
He added that also had low platelet and fever, so it might be a picture of dengue hemorrhagic fever and also had low cells, which usually occurs in people with lupus.
"It's a very difficult picture," he said, regretting that the hospital does not have a place to do the autopsies that the pathologist had practiced this test to the deceased so we can define the true cause of his death.
Pineda expects the results of the test that was carried AH1N1 the deceased and other tests, be ready during the week, as these were sent to a laboratory in Tegucigalpa.
He indicated that in the special area that has the hospital for those suspected of the "swine flu", there are five patients who entered the weekend who are stable, as none was serious cases, so it is waiting for developments so they can return home.
He explained that two patients are from San Pedro Sula, one of Choloma, Fabric and other ruins of Copan.
He said that so far this year in San Pedro Sula hospital had been 25 suspected cases of influenza, so that the measures have been reinforced, with the fitting of a special area, personal protective equipment and medicines.
Meanwhile, authorities in the Metropolitan Region of Health confirmed four more cases of influenza A H1N1, so with these, plus 14 infected persons in San Pedro Sula.
