Dengue patient in Kotabaru passes away

Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - A dengue fever patient, identified as Mono, 25, has died at a Kotabaru public hospital in Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan, hospital spokesman dr Hasan Pariwesi said here on Monday.

Hasan said Mono had been working in palm oil plantation company PT Bersama Sejahtera Sakti Gunung Aru before being admitted to the hospital for dengue fever.

"The patient actually need four bags of blood but his family only afforded one bag so he finally passed away," Hasan said, adding that the patient was in very critical condition with blood coming out of his mouth, nostrils, and anus.

Hasan said the patient suffered from Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) of the deadly disease and was unable to survive.

According to him, around 27 dengue fever patients have so far been admitted to Kotabaru public hospital and one of them, namely Mono, has died.
