Whatever the truth is here it wont be a bad curry! (all would have been ill within hours if it was straight forward food poisoning, not 2 -3 days for all suspect cases) and for the actions taken by the authorities, some form of flu is a near certainty; rapid tests would have confirmed a flu infection to spark the allocation of 'suspect' status to the group and referral onwards.

We also know from reports that test 2 has been taken and results are awaited on this second round; if they are all clear all is well and they will be sent home.

Thanks for following this Vibrant62.

Gert notes that perhaps the patients and staff may not think this is H5N1. I am not sure how the staff would know that it is not H5N1. To my knowledge there have never been any human H5N1 cases officially reported in North Sulawesi - so what first hand experience would the staff have. They would do well to keep these individuals in isolation until the lab results are returned.
