SOUTHWEST MONSOON-2014: DAILY FLOOD SITUATION REPORT
SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 08.09.2014
Weather warning during next 3 days
08 September (Day 1):
♦ Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Gujarat region. Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at a few places over Konkan & Goa and at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
♦Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam & Meghalaya, East Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch and coastal Karnataka.
09 September (Day 2):
♦ Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls over West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa and Gujarat region. Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
♦ Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra & Kutch.
10 September (Day 3): ♦ Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls over Konkan & Goa. Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region and Madhya Maharashtra.
♦ Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over East Rajasthan and Saurashtra & Kutch. Weather Outlook for subsequent 4 days
♦ Increase in rainfall activity over northwest & central India.
♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at most places over Konkan & Goa and Gujarat Region upto 13th September and at many places thereafter.
♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, east and northeast India.
♦ Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over peninsular India and at isolated places over rest parts of the country.

According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 08.09.2014, there are 04 Moderate flood situation sites in the country.
MODERATE FLOOD SITUATION
ODISHA
• River Vamsadhara at Kashinagar Distt. Gajapati, Odisha is flowing 54.79(m) against the danger level 54.6(m) with Falling trend.
ASSAM
• River Dhansri(S) at Numaligarh Distt. Golaghat, Assam is flowing 77.5(m) against the danger level 77.42(m) with Rising trend.
Telangana
• River Godavari at Bhadrachalam, Distt- Khambam, Telangana is flowing 48.94(m) against the danger level 48.77(m) with Rising trend.
• River Godavari at Domm, Distt- Khambam, Telangana is flowing 55.25(m) against the danger level 55.0(m) with Rising trend.

FLOOD SITUATION
Assam
On 06.09.2014 in Assam, 03 districts and 195 villages are reported to be affected by flood. Situation is under control. 33 relief camps have been set up with about 9156 inmates.
Uttarakhand
All major rivers of the State are flowing below the danger level. Number of human lives lost since 15th June 2014 till date is 60.
Bihar
20 districts, 1682 villages and 23 Lakhs population have been affected in this flood. So far 95 lives have been lost and 207914 people have been evacuated. 91 relief camps have been opened and 58854 people have been accommodated. Necessary relief measures are being taken.
J&K
Due to incessant heavy rains, there is flood like situation in Kashmir valley and some area of Jammu Division. Earlier 116 deaths have been reported and today 14 dead bodies have also been recovered. Total death toll 130 reported. Approx 400 villages in various districts in Kashmir valley have got submerged. Peoples have been shifted to safer places. District Anantnag and District Kulgam are the most affected districts followed by Pulwama Srinagar and Budgam. Some areas of District Ganderbal, Bandipora and Baramulla have also been affected due to heavy rain and flash floods.
Huge losses/damages of private/ public property and bridges have been reported in affected areas. Due to damage to the bridges the connectivity has also been affected and also due to submerge of National highway at various places between Anantnag and Qazigund the valley is cut off from the Jammu.
NDRF has deployed 17 teams alongwith 118 boats for the rescue operation. NDRF has rescued more than 8000 persons.
Indian Army has deployed 205 columns. 20,000 civilian have been evacuated. 60 medical teams are deployed and 10 are standby. 16 relief camps have been established for providing relief and succor to the affected people. 8 engineering Task Force teams have been deployed with engineering stores and equipment.
Two MARCOS teams of Indian Navy were deployed to rescue 200 stranded villagers in Haigaum. Additional deep divil and naval medical teams are on standby.
IAF has committed 13 fixed Wing and 22 Rotary Wing helicopters for the rescue and relief operation.
85 tons of medicines, 500 Kg biscuits and 22,700 Ltr of water bottles were airlifted from Delhi to Srinagar.
All rescue and relief activities are going in full swing even though road connectivity continues with the problems.
