Five samples of bird flu (H5N1 avian influenza) have been found positive in a poultry farm in village Badgona Joshi (Salimeta) of Mohkhed development block of Chhindwara district. After this, Collector Sheelendra Singh on Saturday issued strict orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code 2023.

According to the order, a radius of one kilometer of the infected poultry farm has been declared as "infected area", where all chicken shops and poultry farms will remain completely closed. Along with this, a radius of 10 kilometers has been declared as "surveillance area". All poultry farms, backyard poultry, chicken shops and egg shops located in this area will be disinfected and sanitized daily.

All chickens and their products found in the infected area will be destroyed with the cooperation of the Veterinary Department and Municipal Corporation. Also, a complete ban has been imposed on the sale and transportation of chicken and poultry products in this area.

The Health Department will monitor
The Health Department will take samples of chicken shop owners, families of livestock owners and persons who came in contact with them who were found H5N1 positive.

The sale of poultry, eggs and non-vegetarian food will be banned for 21 days in all hotels and dhabas located within a radius of one kilometer of the infected area.

The collector has appealed to the people to stay away from poultry and egg shops and maintain cleanliness around them. The district administration and health department are constantly monitoring the situation to prevent infection.
