Japanese Encephalitis has claimed four more lives in Assam taking the death toll to 52. According to the data shared by National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, four persons died due to Japanese Encephalitis infection in the state in the last 24 hours. All four persons died in central Assam's Nagaon district. In the last 24 hours three new cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been detected in the state - one each in Bongaigaon, Majuli and West Karbi Anglong districts. Since July this year, 305 cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been detected in the state...

Dimapur, Aug. 9 (EMN): Eleven cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) — four in Dimapur, three in Peren, two from Mokokchung and one each from Wokha and Mon — have been reported in Nagaland till Monday, August 8.

District Victor Borne Disease consultant, Dimapur, Peter Sangtam informed they have tested 38 individuals for JE virus out of which 11 returned positive.

Further, he said there are currently eight positive patients for JE in Nagaland while one patient comes under Assam jurisdiction (Borlengri).

One patient from Mokokchung, who was admitted at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) in January, passed away; while another patient from Peren also died last week. He was around 80 years and had other ailments, he stated...

Guwahati: Japanese Encephalitis (JE) claimed one more life in Assam in the past 24 hours, pushing the toll to 66, the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam said in a report.

The lone death was reported from the Sonitpur district of Assam, the report said.

On the other hand, four fresh cases of the vector-borne disease were reported on Tuesday, the NHM report added.

While Kamrup district recorded two new cases each, Kokrajhar and Tinsukia reported one case each respectively, the report stated.

The four new cases reported on Tuesday took this year’s JE tally in Assam to 355, it said...

Mizoram reports first case of Japanese Encephalitis

Mizoram on Thursday reported its first case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE), a viral brain infection that spread through mosquito bites. State Nodal Officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma, in a statement, announced the detection of the JE case from a patient in Aizawl.

He said that the state health department has recently informed the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) about the detection of a suspected JE case in Trinity hospital and asked for a final decision as it will be the first JE case in the state...

Guwahati, Aug 20: The National Health Mission (NHM) has shared that 370 cases of Japanese Encephalitis and 77 deaths during the last one month were reported in Assam.

Two fresh fatalities due to the infection were reported from Kamrup district. Two new cases were also registered during the day, one each from Goalpara and Sonitpur.

The Japanese encephalitis tally in the state stands at 377.

All nine medical colleges in Assam and 10 district hospitals have been kept ready with ICU and laboratory test facilities, and designated as Japanese encephalitis treatment centres...

Amritsar, August 30: Health officials of Shri Guru Ramdas Medical College, Amritsar on Monday confirmed the case of ‘Japanese encephalitis’, the very first case of this fatal virus in Punjab.

A young girl who was brought to the hospital in quite critical situation was later found to be infected with Japanese encephalitis. For the unversed, it is a viral brain infection that spreads through mosquito bites.The virus, found in pigs and birds, is passed to mosquitoes when they bite infected animals.

The doctors took patient’s blood and spinal fluid samples and sent them to PGI Chandigarh for examination. In the report of PGI, received at 5 pm on Monday evening, this girl was found to be suffering from Japanese Encephalitis.

Reportedly, young patient is still serious and is on ventilator...

Kanpur has reported an outbreak of acute necrotizing encephalitis (ANE).

The medicos of GSVM medical college contracted this disease and more than 30 medical students are down with high grade fever.

ANE has been confirmed in seven of them.

According to official sources, the first case was reported earlier this week when a third-year student from Barabanki was brought to LLR hospital's ICU with high fever and severe headache.

She was confirmed to be infected with ANE on Tuesday...
