In Serbia, the flu sickened 170 people,12 fatalities

As of this day at noon, the total number of reported, laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza, 170, Tanjug said the head of the Department of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Institute of Public Health 'Batut' Dragan Dimitrijevic.


She added that the 141 people confirmed influenza virus A H1N1, 21 patients with influenza A virus H3N2, the two people influenza virus type A and in six influenza virus type B
Ten patients in serious condition and are in the intensive care unit.




Dimitrijevic said that Serbia has registered 12 deaths in which influenza virus was detected and it is about people aged 27 to 74 years, including one person with unknown vaccination status, and 11 people were unvaccinated.


'Eight dead persons belonged to the population groups most at risk - a chronic lung, heart, diabetes and severe obesity, "said Dimitrijevic, adding that the deceased person from the territory of Belgrade,
Banat, Morava, Pčinj, Danube, Nis, Pirot and South Backa District.



Dimitrijevic said that the Institute 'Batut' reported outbreaks of influenza among the population in Belgrade, Pirot and territories of AP Vojvodina.


She said that the incidence is above the threshold for the epidemic period and to register the mean activity of the influenza virus.
