Ind. Health Officials Confirm 2nd TB Exposure Site

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Central Indiana health officials say people who visited a Kokomo laundromat may have been exposed to tuberculosis.

The Kokomo Tribune reports health officials are urging people who visited the Center Road Laundromat between November and February to get tested for TB because a Kokomo woman with the disease visited the business...

We also had a case of multidrug-resistant TB in the Fort Wayne/Allen County, IN area in January of this year.

Nearly 150 of the student's classmate were tested and it was reported that no one else associated with the student had been identified with active TB.

More than 500 Kokomo-area residents tested for tuberculosis

Grissom Air Reserve Base ? More than 500 area residents took advantage of the free tuberculosis testing this past week.

Residents who were tested Monday and Tuesday must have those tests read between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. today or Friday at the Kokomo Event Center.

The Howard County Health Department last week urged those who visited OP Nail & Spa Salon, 423 E. Center Road, between Sept. 28, 2011, and Feb. 22, to be tested for TB.

Those tests were extended to people who patronized the Center Road Laundromat, 421 E. Center Road, between Nov. 1, 2011, and Feb. 22...

...Oldaker said anyone who didn?t get tested should call the Howard County Health Department at 765-456-2411 to schedule an appointment.

Depending on the number of calls, the health department might conduct a clinic at its offices, she said...

Very low rate of positive TB tests in Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) ? Health officials say a very low percentage of people taking tuberculosis tests in Howard County have tested positive for the infectious disease.

The Kokomo Tribune reported Sunday ( ) that seven of 536 people receiving the tests recently came back positive for TB. That's a rate of just over 1 percent...
