A Vanderburgh County resident has Indiana’s first case of West Nile virus for the year, the Indiana Department of Health announced Tuesday.

No other information about the case will be offered, according to the news release, to protect the patient’s privacy.​..

Hamilton County resident tests positive for West Nile virus

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person living in Hamilton County has tested positive for West Nile virus, county health officials confirmed in a Friday afternoon Facebook post.

This is the second human case reported in Indiana this summer. A Vanderburgh County resident tested positive for West Nile virus in July. This follows 11 human cases reported in 2024.​..

West Nile Virus-related death confirmed in southwest Indiana

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - A West Nile Virus-related death has been confirmed in southwest Indiana.

According to the Vanderburgh County Health Department, there has been an increase this year of West Nile Virus in humans in the county, with nine cases reported, including one death.

The CDC says Vanderburgh County is one of the top 10 counties in the US reporting human cases of the West Nile Virus.​..
