In 2010, cases of bronchiolitis had a higher incidence during the past winter
The most prevalent virus in both children and adults is the respiratory syncytial.


A few weeks after the end of the winter season, the Ministry of Health of the Nation revealed that cases of bronchiolitis showed in 2010 a notice more than the same period of 2009, registering the trend up to 23 weeks of the year.
It also stated that the virus identified most often to the current week is the respiratory syncytial, with a presence of 87.4% compared with other respiratory viruses identified.
Epidemiology experts said that after 26 days of notification of influenza-like illness showed a decreased number of cases of 47.9% over the same cumulative period of 2009. This is evident both at the country level, as in the five regions that comprise it.
As for bronchiolitis, the report points out that the backlog during the first 26 weeks of the year (140 105) representing an increase of 18.4% over the same period of 2009 (118 319).
Of all patients in which respiratory infection has been confirmed by viral agents, 87.4% were RSV, followed by parainfluenza (5.08%), adenovirus (2.9%). They noted that so far only been reported 22 cases of influenza A H1N1.
More than 93% of respiratory viruses identified by age group patients were younger than 5 years. In relation to patients between 5 and 64 years, 43% of the cases involved the respiratory syncytial.
With regard to the successful vaccination campaign against influenza A H1N1, is currently applied 6656945 monovalent pandemic vaccine doses. Monovalent vaccine was used for people under 65 and trivalent vaccines for over 65 years. The global coverage of the country to date is 92.7%, while Santiago del Estero is one of the three provinces that more people immunized during the winter, reaching 96% of inoculated. 
