Ludhiana:

Dr Narotam Dewan, President of Indian Medical Association, Ludhiana, has urged Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Health Minister Luxmi Kanta Chawla , to arrange 50 ventilators for Ludhiana on war footing. Dr Dewan said that many lives had been lost due to swine flu in Punjab.

These lives could have been saved if we had cared to create intensive care units with ventilators.

He said, ?Our political leaders can utilize their fund collection skills for collecting funds to upgrade government health facilities of Punjab to world standards. There is no reason that the educated bureaucracy and motivated political leadership of Punjab can not make the government health services of Punjab better than private hospitals like Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Christian Medical College & Hospital or Satguru Partap Singh Apollo Hospital LDH. The ventilator facilities of these hospitals are fully occupied at all times and are too costly to be with in reach of common citizens.?
