Illinois confirms more hepatitis A cases

Public health officials in Springfield have confirmed six new hepatitis A cases within the past week.

There are now 75 people in Illinois who have the highly contagious liver infection. Three of the new cases were from east-central Illinois, one in central Illinois and two in suburban Cook County, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
