Huntsville Hospital Sets Up Overflow Flu ER
Posted: Sep 10, 2009 07:56 PM
One area hospital isn't wasting any time preparing for flu season.
Outside the pediatric ER at Huntsville Hospital, workers have been setting up blue tents all day long.
It's part of the hospital's plan to be ready for flu season.
At nightfall, tents will be open as used as an overflow ER for flu patients.
Representatives tell us the pediatric staff has seen an increase of double of what they usually see.
Huntsville Hospital representative Sue Esslinger says the waiting room at pediatric ER has been filling up at night and the hospital wants to ensure there is space for everyone.
If the swine flu progresses, the area will also be used as a triage center.
