Re: Hunan media: n=18 (7 fatal) 8 discharges (5 elderly and 2 pregnant fatal)

. . .As of March 31, the Hunan cases were diagnosed 18 cases of human infection with H7N9, including Mr. Tan Lao were discharged eight cases, 7 deaths. There are five cases of deaths in the elderly, two cases are pregnant. . .
The media report of 18 cases from 2014 matches with publiclly available data. However, the reports of deaths and recoveries can not be associated with available data. As note in Sharon's post above only two of the 18 cases have been reported as deaths, not seven. Since January 1, 2014, There have only been two women of child bearing age infected in Hunan (FT #321 and FT #358). The media report indicates that both of these women were pregnant and have died.

More transparency from Chinese health authorities would be helpful.
