Kwai Chung Hospital cluster of gastroenteritis symptoms cases


The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

Regarding earlier announcement that some patients of Kwai Chung Hospital (KCH) had presented with gastroenteritis symptoms, the spokesperson for the hospital gave the following update today (July 13):

Four more patients (aged 38 to 79) of the concerned ward have presented with fever and diarrhea symptoms today.

Appropriate viral tests had been arranged and the test results of two patients were confirmed positive to Norovirus.

The patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition.

Admission and visiting to the ward concerned would continue to be suspended. Infection control measures have been stepped up and all patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
