Haven of Hope Hospital Norovirus outbreak


The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for Haven of Hope Hospital (HHH) made the following announcement today (August 24):

Three female patients and one male patient (aged from 58 to 79), and two staff members of a palliative care ward of HHH have diarrhoea or vomiting since August 16.

Viral tests had been arranged for two patients and one staff member and all were positive for Norovirus.

The two affected staff members are on sick leave. The affected patients are under isolation and are in stable condition.

All admissions and discharge of the ward concerned have been suspended. Restricted visiting has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients and staff members in the ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.

Update on cluster of Norovirus cases in Haven of Hope hospital


The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

Regarding the recent confirmation of a cluster of patients with Norovirus in a Palliative Care ward, the spokesperson for Haven of Hope Hospital made the following update today (August 25):

Three more female patients and five more male patients (aged from 58 to 83) in the ward had presented with diarrhea or vomiting.

Viral tests had been arranged for the patients and all the test results were negative.

The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.

All admissions and discharge of the concerned ward have been suspended. Restricted visiting has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
