Authorities of the Hong Kong Special Administrative region have banned the import of salted duck eggs from Vietnam?s provinces of Nam Dinh, Quang Ngai, Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau and Kon Tum due to growing concern about an H5N1 avian influenza outbreak.

The import ban of the same product from Vietnam?s northern provinces of Hoa Binh and Bac Ninh is still in place as the disease had been detected in some farming houses in these localities, according to officials from the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety.
