WINNIPEG - Two Winnipeg women who are infected with HIV, allegedly by a man who was diagnosed and didn?t warn them before sex, fear he might have spread the potentially fatal virus to others.
Winnipeg police are applying for an arrest warrant, a spokeswoman said.
It?s believed the 26-year-old man is now living in Calgary.
The women said Monday they know of a third woman who tested positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, after she had sexual intercourse with the same man and are learning there might be more.
The third woman apparently hasn?t given a statement to police but two ? Christine and Tamara ? have.
Christine and Tamara, whose lives have been forever changed, fear more women slept with the man and aren?t aware they are HIV-positive.
?That?s why we?re concerned. He?s out in Calgary and he could be infecting more people,? Christine said.
?We want to warn women,? Tamara said.
The women said police told them the man?s medical records indicate he tested positive for HIV in 2006.
