Bird Flu: Culling operation ends

KRISHNAGAR, 26 SEPT: Culling operation has been completed in the Betai and Puntimari areas of Tehatta-I and the authorities are now carrying out sanitation work by using bleaching powder and calcium bicarbonate dust for disinfecting those areas from where the birds were collected.
The sanitation work will continue for the next two days. Officials said that more than 48,000 birds have been killed so far. Mr Tapan Biswas, Block Livestock Development Officer, Tehatta-I, said that all operations will end tomorrow. Mr Achintya Kumar Mondal, Tehatta SDO, said that the government will pay around Rs 20 lakh as compensation.
